I feel like you wrote this after interviewing me! As I read it I was like, yes, YES, YESSSSS! 100% ME!! Trying to articulate my passion for Meddy, and how ot came out of nowhere! The personal crash/Burn after AO!!!! Etc, etc, ... So relatable!! Well done girl and thank you, thank you!!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I was a bit nervous to publish this piece because I wanted to make sure I got it right and did him justice so I'm really glad to see it's resonated with you too!

I just read this article again, and loved it as much as the first time around. The first time I read this, I felt inspired to follow more of your fellow fans and have enjoyed all the uploads of "Meddy Memorabilia" - comments, acts, and just plain photos. It is his directness and honesty that I appreciate most. He doesnt give varnished replies, as you noted, and I particularly liked his recent response on The Tennis Podcast in Miami when asked whether it's true that top players are either really smart or really stupid. (He liked the question too!)

Huge Meddy fan and he was also my gateway to obsession with tennis. A little bit after the AO he said something like, 'if I could choose whether to have lived it or not, I would still want to have done it...'

Which I found so profound in just the way you talk about. Took the sting out of it a little bit for me <3

Great essay!

Amazing piece; I quite liked this angle on Federer's beauty and perfection vs Medvedev's unorthodoxy and "imperfectionism".

There's a lot to be appreciated in both, and counter-intuitively Daniil's way might be a better goal for most (all?) of us !

"Accept your imperfections and your current constraints. You should work hard and by doing things your own way, you can achieve great things"
